Amazing Developments In Full Effect

21 September 2003

Shoplifter Records packed 41 people; musicians, groupies and paparazzi- into a coach and headed from London to Manchester to take over a small nightclub and rock the fuck out. 5 Bands -Crystal Radio, Miss Machine and Kill Kenada from England, The Satellites from Mallorca, and Regina Spektor, flown in from da Bronx NYC- all delivered the goods, big time at the In The City new music festival.

This was the first time that many of these bands had met each other, and it can be honestly said that they all were knocked out by their fellow Shoplifter mates, and well impressed the crowd. The sounds of each band were quite distinct, yet complimented each other and built energy upon energy for a climactic night of super rockin' !! The next night, John Hassall, bassist of The Libertines led off a night of performances at the 12 Bar Club in London with his own music, backed by Carl and Gary Libertine and Johnny Borell. After their set came The Satellites, El Hula and finally Regina Spektor bringing down the house and having the audience eating from her hand (as always) after two songs!

Regina will grace the stage at our Basement Club night at the Bufallo Bar, next to the Highbury Islington Tubestop this Thursday the 25th of September. Bloc Party will open, and Crystal Radio will sneak in more of that swirly psychedelic bratty music.

Flash++ This will be Regina's last London show before returning to America to tour for two months supporting The Strokes!! We are so proud of her, and are going to watch in amazement as she singlehandedly conquers the USA. Her EP Carbon Monoxide and LP Soviet Kitsch will be released within the next 2 months here on Shoplifter Records, so stay tuned!
