Satellites

Sami Yaffa (of Hanoi Rocks fame, Joan Jett and now with the ressurected New York Dolls)) brought this band into Transporterraum Studio NYC from their native island of Mallorca to record "Our Very Bright Darkness", with Gordon Raphael. Within a few days, we realised that one of the most special groups on the world had found us.
The flowery breezes blowing off the Mediterranean influence their music as much as the familiar nightmares of being a human living in the world today. Heartbreak, love, paranoia, escapism, confusion mix with harmonies of utter joy and beauty. Epic horizons of glorious colour drift off some of their songs, melting your heart, whilst others scrape the top of your brain with agonising intensity and freakish screams from burning hell. Jordi's voice is unparalleled to our experience, both in range and tone, but really that translates into a power and imagination rarely encapsulated in music today, and witnessed even less. Seven more songs and a video were produced by Gordon on the island of Mallorca, and a full new album can be expected this year. If you want something that's challenging and rewarding for your ears, Satellites (Mallorca) come highly recommended. We insist that you hear them now. And, if possible... see them live onstage///unforgettable. We just completed their third album, and I recommed you go to their website www.satellitesmusic.com and demand a copy. Cant recommend this music strongly enough, it clears the dust off your mind, and gives some powerful new visions when used properly!
SATELLITES - by Toby L (rockfeedback.com)
Perceived more as a hotbed of activity amidst the tourist-season for a summer getaway than a launch-pad for original rock-music, Mallorca is the unlikely home to Satellites - a four-piece (Jordi - vocals/guitar/keys; Puter - bass/vocals; Michael - guitar/vocals; and Joantoni - drums) with as much an inclination towards sonic, pulse-racing instrumental noise-bliss-terror as timeless, melodious songwriting.
Their progression is a gradual one. Having recorded and released two full-length records already, inclusive of the Raphael-produced boldness of 'Our Very Bright Darkness', the group have been playing together for seven years, yet remain youthful and esteemed in their outlook, innovating and improving past shivers of prior greats, topped off in a distinctly European flair.
With major international festival-appearances and tours in the can - plus a hotly-received string of debut UK live-dates in the Autumn of 2002 - the band remain a dynamic, challenging force in a scene of commonly predictable chord-sequences and personalities.
